Virginia Chang

Virginia Chang is a politician running for San Mateo County Supervisor. Virginia has served on the California Commission for Economic Development for 6 years and is the first Asian American woman to serve on the Menlo Park Fire Protection District and Harbor Board of Commissioners. Being the child of immigrant parents, Chang believes that we "face our challenges together and meet the moment by uniting and working towards solutions that benefit everyone in our community." Virginia has earned a B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin along with a Master of Public Administration from USC. When Virginia works on corporate financial analysis, where she has 15 years of experience, and when she isn't busy working on policies about affordable housing and climate change, she loves to play piano and frequently does volunteer work.

Story

Virginia Chang hails from a Chinese immigrant family. She has extensive experience in both the public and private sectors; following a 15-year career in financial analysis, planning, and investments, she was appointed by the then-Governor to the California Commission for Economic Development, where she served from 2008–2014. Currently, she is a Trustee on the California State Parks Foundation and a former board member on the Silicon Valley Red Cross Board of Directors. Virginia is running for San Mateo County Supervisor. She believes in facing challenges together and meeting the moment by uniting and working towards solutions that will benefit everyone in her community.

Policy

Virginia values community and has strong stances on preventing climate change, supporting affordable housing, addresses homelessness, and reducing traffic congestion. In addition, she espouses the virtues of equality and government accountability.
