Kansen Chu

Berryessa Union School District Board of School Trustees

Kansen Chu is a Taiwanese-born American politician. He represented the 25th District from 2004 to 2020 on the California State Assembly and was a previous San Jose City Council for District 4 in 2014. Kansen served as the Chair of the Assembly Human Service Committee and Assembly Arts, Entertainment, Sports, Tourism, and Internet Media, and also served 6 years on Transportation and Water, Parks, and Wildlife Committees.


Kansen Chu was formerly a computer programmer, working at IBM for 19 years.  In 2019, Kansen announced that he would run for the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors. In February, 2021, he was appointed to the Berryessa Union School District Board of Trustees to fill a vacant seat. His current term ends in 2022. Kansen has won numerous awards, including the 2019 Legislator of the Year.


Kansen focuses on public health, mental health, income inequality, public safety, regional transportation, and environmental protection. Jobs, water, and education issues are also on this agenda.
