Check out the highlights from our recent fundraiser in support of Michelle Wu to learn more about her goals and why people support her!
Michelle Wu is the daughter of Taiwanese immigrants who moved to the United States in the early 1980s. She grew up in a Mandarin-speaking household and served as the translator for her family.
Growing up, she never thought she would run for office. Then, when she was in her early 20s, her mother suffered from a mental health crisis and she became the primary caregiver to her mom and guardian to her two sisters. She sought to open a small business to support the family, and realized how much government has the power to help - or to serve as a barrier. She decided to go to law school to fight for families like her own. Law school is where she met a Professor named Elizabeth Warren - the rest is history!
Michelle is the first Asian American woman to serve on the Boston City Council, and was the first woman of color to serve as Council President.
